Hong Kong players bring rugby to local school kids
Hong Kong representatives Salom Yiu Kam-sing and Martini Ip Ka-ling raised the profile of rugby at G. T. College Chi Kit Branch primary school in Mongkok, where they introduced students to basics of the fast-growing sport and inspired awareness of leading local players.

The new Hong Kong rugby team jersey unveiled by the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union today features the Traditional Chinese logo of sponsor HSBC, marking the first time Chinese characters have appeared on the jersey.

Korea wins Shanghai Sevens in extra-time
Korea captured its third consecutive Shanghai Sevens title after edging Hong Kong 22-17 with a try in sudden-death in today’s Cup final. Kim Gwong Min scored the winning try to complete a hat-trick in the final and earn the honours as the Most Valuable Player of the Shanghai Sevens 2011.

Philippines shock Korea on day 1 of Shanghai Sevens
Defending Shanghai Sevens championsKorea suffered a surprise pool match loss to the up and coming Philippines Volcanoes today on day one of the HSBC Asian Sevens Series’ Shanghai Sevens at Yuanshen Stadium. The other tournament top seeds Japan, Hong Kong and China emerged from the opening round unscathed and will headline tomorrow’s quarterfinals competition.

Lao win Division V and retain Mekong Cup for another yearLao beat Cambodia 11-7 today in rain-sodden Vientiane to win the HSBC Asian Five Nations Division V rugby series. Today’s win follows Lao’s crucial 21-19 away victory in the home and away series on July 16th in Phnom Penh. The win also saw Lao retain the Mekong Cup trophy for a fourth consecutive year. |
